Drawing

Since collaging and coming to the conclusion that they aren’t as strong as my illustrations or paintings I want to return to drawing and spend some time on them. Making really detailed paintings for my final pieces to sample from, is my plan but I also want to zoom in on some of the collages and take a piece of them to edit in Photoshop and see if it works if it does not then I will print the whole portraits.

The man with glasses I have painted is my favourite and I believe my strongest, I like all the different tones that I have used however I do wish I had done the whole image and not just a section. For my next ones below I did the whole image and to my surprise I don’t think they worked as well and maybe the fact it was only section made it even stronger.

These paintings I see in high end hotels as pieces in receptions or foyers or in restaurants hung up and framed.

Collaging

I have spent a lot of time on my drawing this unit and I want to again take a different approach for these four weeks. I want to do some collaging and making different textures, as I haven’t explored this yet this year. I have found some articles in the paper and also printed some off about homelessness, then added tissue paper and pva to make a wrinkled texture like some of the individuals worn and wrinkled skin. I want to use these for some prints and make them into something luxurious, going from poor to rich using materials.

I have also traced over images I have taken and images I have found, cut them into strips and mixed them up. Creating prints from some of these will really bring to light to two different situations I am focusing on.  I do think these are interesting and different to what I am used to doing but illustrating and painting the images is a lot more powerful.
